INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, SUPERVISION

Jennifer Byxbee ATR-BC, LCAT, CGT

Jennifer (she/her) is the founder of CAP. She is a psychotherapist using Gestalt, Somatic Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, and Dreamwork in her private practice specializing in clients with anxiety disorders, depression, disordered eating, trauma, identity, and LGBTQ+ issues. After almost 20 years of working as a therapist in NYC, she has expanded her practice to include a group of therapists offering a diverse set of skills and specialties to best serve clients. Jennifer has practiced Art Therapy at nonprofits, schools, community health centers, and several hospitals including Mount Sinai. She received a Master’s degree in Art Therapy in 2007 from the School of Visual Arts. Jennifer completed an intensive Clinical Fellowship Program at Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in 2018 and currently is a student of SEI working towards her Somatic Experiencing Practitioners Certification.

I work with clients using mindfulness and experiential-based forms of psychotherapy to help them transform their lives. My philosophy is based on a firm belief that all of us are moving toward health and healing in the best way we know how. We want to live our lives more fully but often blocks are preventing us from doing so. With a non-pathologizing approach, I help clients understand how coping strategies, although brilliant at conception, can become less helpful and outdated once we move into different environments. We can become stuck in patterns of behavior that don’t match what our lives look like in the present. Through Somatic Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, and dreamwork I work with our unexpressed parts in order to voice and incorporate those parts into our most authentic whole selves.

THERAPY, ART THERAPY, SUPERVISION

Lindsay Lederman, ATR-BC, ATCS, LCAT (NY), LPAT (NJ)

Lindsay (she/her) is an experienced creative arts psychotherapist who has been practicing for almost 20 years. Lindsay specializes in working with clients who have anxiety, depression, difficulty in relationships, are going through big life transitions, and exploring motherhood.  She is well known for her expertise in helping people move forward when feeling stuck is interfering with their life goals and needs. Lindsay has started multiple creative arts therapy programs at major hospitals on the east coast and was formerly the Clinical Director of a local non-profit. She has been featured in Thrive Global, published in a number of academic journals, and was chosen as the expert art therapist to be shown in a documentary about the power of the creative process in the midst of grief.

Lindsay uses a unique blend of creative arts, somatic work, and traditional talk therapy techniques – usually a combination of these – to create a personalized and empowering therapy experience. She has a BA in Psychology from Brandeis University and a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts. Lindsay has trained and supervised other therapists in the field, given numerous talks at schools, hospitals, and companies, and truly believes that the therapy process can help people make meaningful changes to transform their lives.

I pride myself on using a unique form of psychotherapy that combines experiential-based approaches with more traditional ones that are tailored to each of my clients’ needs. I know we want to make changes in our lives - live more fully, feel more connected have more stable relationships - but if you’ve been stuck in the process of trying to make these changes, there’s an underlying reason that can be uncovered in our work together so that real transformation is ahead for you.
